The First Hours of Lady Baby E {Bellingham Birth Photographer}

When I found out that our friends from college were pregnant with their second precious little bundle, I so wanted to be there for them. I love birth photography. Love it. There’s something so raw and beautiful about it. And a loving homebirth? So much better.

So when I got a text from A early in the morning of the 27th I was super excited! It was past her guess date, and she was so ready to be holding her tiny baby girl. She kept me updated that morning, and I let my sitter know. When I got a text that she was at 5cm, to call the sitter, I did right away! My sitter took a little longer to get here then I expected, and by the time I left almost 40 minutes later I texted A’s doula that I was on my way. And she responded “she’s already here!”

I was flabbergasted. 5 cm to birth in under 40 minutes. Amazing. But I went anyway and got some precious moments from the morning following the perfect homebirth. I’m going back this week to get some sweet newborn loveliness too.

Did I mention it was arbor day? With the cherries in bloom I went down to Squalicum Harbor on my way home and took this last photo. Her middle name is Harbor Joy, couldn’t be more perfect.

Wow! Those are such GORGEOUS pictures! I guess that’s what happens when you pair an amazing photographer with a beautiful family.

[...] We are in LOVE with the photos Merrilee took for us. The birth went so quickly that she didn’t make it in time for the actual birth (texted her at 5cm and 40min later Ever was here! Crazy!) but caught some of the most important first moments for our family. I can’t even begin to say how much I love and treasure these images. To see more of them you can visit HERE! [...]

How beautiful! Such a lovely story as well. I wanted to cry when I saw the picture of…. I guess….. grandpa’s face. :’) Such a happy smile. Wonderfully captured.
